South Padre Island, a resort town in Texas and known as a spring break destination, is a tropical barrier island in the Gulf of Mexico located two miles off the coast of Texas. South Padre island is thirty-four miles long and has five miles of beaches on the Gulf of Mexico. The Queen Isabella Causeway connects South Padre Island to the mainland. There are miles of white sandy beaches on the island which attract over a hundred thousand college spring breakers every year.
